The Industrial Engineer - C&S Process is responsible for optimizing cutting and sewing operations for upholstery cover kits. This role focuses on process improvement, preparation for new model launches, coordination of routing updates, and support for automation initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Process Flow & Layout Design
Design and document process flows for cutting and sewing operations, ensuring logical sequencing and efficient material movement.
Develop and optimize workstation and line layouts to improve ergonomics, space utilization, and throughput.
Collaborate with production and facilities teams to implement layout changes and monitor impact.
Process Optimization
Conduct time studies and implement cycle time reduction strategies across C&S operations.
Identify and eliminate process bottlenecks through data analysis and continuous improvement.
Routing Coordination
Coordinate with planning and system teams to ensure routing data is updated when process changes occur.
Validate standard times and ensure routing reflects actual production conditions for accurate costing and scheduling.
New Model Preparation
Plan and prepare equipment, tooling, and process documentation for new product introductions.
Collaborate with design and production teams to ensure manufacturability and readiness for launch
Automation & Technology Projects
Support and coordinate automation initiatives in cutting and sewing areas.
Work with cross-functional teams to evaluate, implement, and sustain automation solutions that improve efficiency and reduce manual labor.
Continuous Improvement & Lean Initiatives
Lead or participate in lean manufacturing projects, 6S programs, and Kaizen events.
Analyze performance data and drive initiatives to reduce waste, improve quality, and increase efficiency
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
2–4 years of experience in textile or upholstery manufacturing, preferably in cutting and sewing operations.
Experience in time studies, process mapping, and cycle time analysis.
Familiarity with ERP systems for routing maintenance.
Exposure to automation technologies and project coordination.
Proficiency in IE tools and AutoCAD
Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills
